The
Essence of Freedom

Essences of the Nagual - The
Essence of Freedom
As we advance along the Toltec Path
we work increasingly more with unstructured energy.
Essences of the Nagual are an example of unstructured
energy. Everything has an essence. By finding its
essence and working with that essence we can realize
that which we are seeking in our lives.
Let us take Freedom for example.
Freedom comes from an essence. When we are able
to "see" energy we see that the essence
of Freedom is Truth. In the English language we
even have an idiom for this as in "The Truth
Shall Set You Free." If we want true freedom
in our lives we must follow the path of Truth.
This means we must live and speak
our truth - we must be impeccable with our word.
We must remove all avoidance and denial in our lives.
It is never fun to see those areas in ourselves
we do not like. We tend to avoid them. This is denial
- and avoidance of the Truth. It is only by fully
acknowledge our weaknesses that we can work to correct
them. It takes our Intent and action to turn a weakness
into a strength. If we deny that we have a weakness
we cannot engage our Intent and take the action
needed to eliminate it. We can never be FREE from
it as we are not aligning to the essence of Truth
in ourselves.
Spirit or power will work with us
to heal our weaknesses. However, It cannot help
us if we are in avoidance and denial. Why? Because
to do so would cross our line of will. It takes
a great deal of will power to avoid and deny our
shadows, and to hide them from ourselves. Also,
Power works with spiritual laws. The essence of
Freedom being Truth is one of these laws. If we
want freedom from our patterns, our difficulties
in life, our issues, our weaknesses, we must be
truthful to ourselves and by fully acknowledging
them for what they are.
As you live and speak your Truth
you will find Freedom. Your life will vibrate higher
and you will feel lighter. A natural joy begins
to shine through you. Live and speak your truth.
If you are not able to do so with others right away,
then at least begin by being truthful to yourself.
It is the path to Freedom.

Question:
"A
Toltec technique that is often misunderstood is "erasing
personal history." Many interpret this as meaning
living in secret, not telling anyone our past and so on.
Erasing personal history is actually very different. We
have history when we have not only energy, but our actual
Spirit stuck in the past. We live our lives reacting to
present situations from our past. A person says something
to us that reminds us of something our father or mother
used to say that hurt us and we react in the same way
now as we did then.
Erasing personal history is a process of bring back our
energy to present time so that we no longer live in and
from the past. As we do this our "past" integrates
fully with who we are in the now moment. We become whole
and integral again without fragmented sub-personalities
still living in the past.
To reclaim our personal power we must integrate our past
into the now. When we have fragmented parts of self stuck
in the past, our power is stuck there with it. A piece
of us, our Spirit or Soul is literally stuck in the past.
This leaves us weak and ineffectual in life, relationships,
spirituality and so on. We our literally "out of
time" as a major part of us is in the past where
it cannot help us here and now.

Answer:
Thank
you for your question Linda. Erasing personal history
requires that we first be aware of our personal history.
We do this through the Mastery of Awareness. There are
many aspects of our personal history that we have repressed
due childhood pains, for example, that we are not aware
of. They lie in our subconscious. Through the Mastery
of Awareness we move our awareness deep into self to bring
what is there into the light of awareness.
Secondly,
we must be able to release the history. We have emotional
charges and attachments to our history. We may have a
love-hate relationship with aspects of our history and
not want to give it up, so we remain bound to that place
and time.
Third,
and this is the one that most have the most difficulty
with, we must LIVE our lives free of the history. Meditation
is good for becoming aware of the history and for releasing
some of the charges around the history, but it cannot
substitute LIVING free of history. It is only through
the LIVING of our lives in accordance to our spiritual
principle that we can be free. So, for example, if we
were abused as a child, and due to the abuse we are fearful
of becoming close in a relationship, we must first process
the abuse and do what we can to release it. However, the
ulitimately release and healing of the history can only
come through the LIVING of the issue. In other words we
may need to set our intent to go into relationship and,
inspite of the fear, become close and intimate with the
person we want to be in relationship with. This requires
courage and intent.
We
must rehabilitate ourselves so that we can live in present
time, in the now. If something or someone pushes our buttons
it is simply that they are stimulating some charge in
our past, in our history. This path is about freedom.
We must release our personal history to be free.

Hunt
for Personal Power |

As the hunter
stalks his prey so must a warrior hunt for personal power. Power
can be found in every situation and encounter in the moment if
we look for it. We need not hunt for issues to work on but for
the power that hides within the issues that are raised in the
work Spirit brings us.
Being
empowered yesterday does not guarantee our being whole and complete
today. It can help but we must seek our power in the day and
in the moment, not in yesterdays victories.
So
many times in the past we have looked at others and asked why
are they doing this to me. Or we looked at situations and asked,
why is this happening to me. If we can see beyond the drama
to the greater picture, we can avoid reacting and choose to
respond and then ask ourselves, what personal power is waiting
to be gathered in this situation.
In
this hunt for power we must stay lucid in our awake dream. Seeing
beyond the drama can only be done when we are Self aware in
the moment. This allows us to be detached from the drama and
attached to the deeper meaning of the circumstance.
When
we can look at each moment, each encounter, and each day as
a gift and an opportunity to gather more parts of or our fragmented
self, the journey will continue to new heights of healing our
wounds and gathering our personal power.

What
is Beyond Main Street?

As the dream of the planet would have life, in Pleasantville
life is a predictable daily routine: the men work from 8-5,
while kids are in school. In the evenings mom, who is thrilled
to be limited to cooking and cleaning, always has dinner on
the table when dad gets home. Life is "swell", and
everyone goes to church on Sunday. Life is unvarying, limited
and unrealistic. The dream of the planet likes for things to
be this way because it provides a false feeling of control,
even though it makes life monotone and bland or black and white.
However, life is change. What the dream of the planet can not
deal with is the changes and the growth that naturally occur
in life. When the daughter asks "What is beyond Main Street?"
during a geography lesson in school, the entire class turns
to stare. They are taken back with such a question; the dream
of the planet relies on a pact that no one question life, reach
for the starts or do something in their own unique (and therefore
unpredictable) way.
Sooner or later inner urgings and desire take over us all. Sooner
or later we finally do break the norm and reach for something
new, something we desire to try, such as the red apple. Is this
a sin? What is a sin and how do you, personally define a sin?
The citizens of Pleasantville are awakened to their own feelings
and urgings: a desire to skip school, to kiss or to express
a true emotion. They are awakened to their true Selves, a part
of themselves that they access when they honor their true feelings.
The magic of their 'true colors' sets them free- free from the
mundane and predictable life that Pleasantville was; free from
the limiting definitions that they had previously been confined
to.
One of the greatest awakenings we see is in the mother, who
has found that she is more than just a cook, a wife or a mother.
She is also her own person, a new discovery that she is now
committed to exploring.
A sin is something that goes against ourselves.
We sin every time we dishonor ourselves, our needs and who and
what we truly are. Are you committed to exploring your True
person, your True Self?

The
Illusion is Real
|

There’s
a new age belief, that all we see, that all the we think exists,
is an illusion. The Toltecs call this the Dream. So it’s true?
The
concept of this illusion, is relatively new in the West, at
least to larger masses of people. In fact, however, it is a
“concept” that has been around for thousands of years, and interestingly
enough, one that has been independently sensed by many cultures
who have studied awareness in consciousness through-out time.
Even
early on in our classes of awareness, we can begin to see how
our perception of things is modified by our personal viewpoint.
If we are having a bad day for instance, everything looks grey,
and yet for someone having a good day, the same things appear
much lighter and clear. As one moves deeper into awareness,
the trend continues. We see that how our life has developed,
our relation with parents, peers etc., effects our personal
perception. Things are often NOT really as we see them. Many
have made it a lifetime’s work, moving into this concept, and
have passed on what they have learned. Eventually one comes
to see, that there is much more to us than we had imagined.
Our world, becomes to appear more and more illusory.
Many
come to see a Dreamer, and in some religions, a Creator.
For most, it is difficult to look out through their eyes, and
seeing things that seem so real, imagine that it could all be
just a dream. The sense of personal importance blocks the possibility
that it could be illusion. But ordinary dream it is not, this
is evident. It is more illusion of misperception. Our capacity
to see to the level of the Dreamer falls far short. We cannot
imagine timelessness, simultaneous existence of all lifetimes.
Infinity is defined by reference to time. So what we see, what
we are capable of seeing seems to be everything.
But
there is one great hope. That is, that illusion or not, it IS.
In that sentence exists the essence of immortality. We are living
proof of existence. Our vision of existence may fall far short
of reality, and our version may well be an illusion of perception,
but the illusion itself is real.
Doesn’t
it seem as though we ought to give it our attention?
